Brandy, first it would help if I knew what was the cause of your development of chronic kidney disease, because you have to take that into account, when it comes to back pain. I myself have back pain on occasion, but because I am a dialysis pts. and have been for almost twenty years, it use to bother me and sometime on occasion, my back pain feels unbearable, but I often think of something that my mom had said in my early days of dialysis, that you may think that you have pain that you truly can't bare, just remember you will never have as much pain as Jesus did, and I have lived by her words of wisdom ever since then. When I do experience back pain, I have used a remedy that a veteran fellow dialysis pts, shared with me, Have you heard of ICY HOT, that truly helps to relieve my back pain, and other pains that I may have on other parts of my body. I would have my husband or daughter, whoever is available at the time, rub ICY HOT on my back pain, and then they would wrap it somewhat tightly with an ace bandage, and Girl, that truly relieves me. Every once in awhile I get pain, and I go right to my ICY HOT for relief. So Don't Fret! there are solutions to pain that could arise with dialysis or pre-dialysis. I hope to hear from you real soon.
Take Care

Brandy, I have been using the recopes on the Davita web site. I am stage 3 CKD and have been diabetic for 20 years. The recipes at Davita are marked for dialysis or CKD or Diabetic. I have tried the following and found them to be very tasty and easy and not too different from my usual cooking: Terrific tacos....American Meatloaf....breakfast burrito...just last night I made breaded chicken from the Davita Diet Helper site. It was a lunch suggestion for me but I used it for dinner and just ate a bigger peice of chicken. The Davita Meal planner will give you everything you need, including a grocery list. There are many ingredients to buy and your first grocery store trip will be a little expensive but most of the things to buy last a long time, because each recipe calls for such a small amount. My husband eats the same things I eat, only larger portions. Give the Davita site a look and I am sure you will use it. Nan
