Hi. Does anyone know of any nursing homes that do the PD for their patients? We have run into a problem that none of the nurses are certified to do PD for patients and my Dad is being transferred to a nursing home. So far my Mom is the only one that can do the PD for him.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks! |

Hi Mrowland, Where is your Dad being transfer to, because there are dialysis units everywhere these days, even in rural areas. Check out a dialysis unit, somewhere near where you are, and talk with the social worker of the unit, that should be able to help your dad, maybe even the PD nurse of the unit, maybe able to give the nurses at the nursing home some training in learning to assist your dad with his PD treatment. Keep me posted as to what you find out. O.K.

Thanks. The only problem is that most nursing homes can't afford to have a trained/certified PD nurse on staff. I have called everywhere...even out of town nursing facilities with no luck.
