All's been quiet but little known to my wife and myself, her daughter has undergone testing and it's been confirmed, she a PERFECT MATCH!!!! My wife has to redo an outdated stress test and they would like to do the surgery sometime within the next 4-6 weeks.
I'm numb and not sure what to expect. I would appreciate it if anyone would have any insights for preparation. Insurance seems to be in place. I'm concerned about missing too much work. I suppose I'll be researching post-op recovery, etc. This doesn't seem real but I'll give it time. Escoe |

Thanks for sharing your news and congratulations. What a great surprise. We are in the process of qualifying my husband for a transplant. The hospital provided us with some good dvd's regarding what to be prepared for if the transplant proceeds in terms of transplant prep and transplant recovery for both the recipient and the donor. You might check with you facility patient coordinators and see if they have something available for you to watch or read. That way you know what your specific facility sees as the process and time frames.
Best wishes to you.

That's great news, CONGRATS!!!
transplant living might be a good resource for you here's the link: http://www.transplantliving.com/ My employer provides "family leave" (up to 6 weeks off, I think.) check to see if your employer has that too. can you use "sick time" for after surgery? good luck and please keep us posted!
