Hi Chuck, I read your post and in answer to your question, what is the lab symbol for phosphorus? It is PO4

Some labs, mine included, write it out.
PO4 is "phosphate" This is a molecule made up of one phosphorus atom and 4 oxygen atoms. In common language we simply call it phosphorus. the difference would only matter to a chemist.

elemental phosphorus (phosphorus by itself) cannot exist in the blood, nor in most open air situations, it would catch fire
