Recipe taken from the National Kidney Foundation’s Living Well on Dialysis and submitted by DaVita dietitian Margaret in California.
Portions: 6
Serving size: 1 cup
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice cereal squares
- 1 cup corn cereal squares
- 1 cup unsalted tiny pretzel twists
- 3 cups unsalted popcorn
- 1/3 cup margarine, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
Preparation
- Mix cereals, pretzels and popcorn in large bowl.
- Combine melted margarine, garlic powder and onion powder. Pour over cereal mixture and toss to coat. Add Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in 350° F oven for 7 to 10 minutes.
- Cool before serving.
- Store in sealed container.

Helpful Hints
- To reduce sodium further, use unsalted margarine or unsalted butter. Select the rice and corn cereal brand lowest in sodium.
- For an added holiday twist, add 1 cup dried cranberries to the snack mix after it has cooled.
