Hot Crab Dip

Serving size: 3 tablespoons

Ingredients

  • one 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon onion, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • cayenne pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons nondairy creamer
  • one 6-ounce can crab meat

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 375º F.
  2. Place softened cream cheese in a bowl.
  3. Add onion, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper and cayenne pepper.  Mix well.  Stir in nondairy creamer.
  4. Add crab meat and stir until blended. 
  5. Place mixture into an oven-safe dish. Bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm with low-sodium crackers.

Helpful hints

  • Try this recipe with fresh steamed crab meat instead of canned crab.
  • Decrease fat to 4 grams per serving by using reduced-fat cream cheese. Be aware, the sodium content is higher (170 mg per serving).
