Lemonade Wings

Ingredients

  • 24 chicken wing drummettes
  • 4 tablespoons canola oil
  • 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 4 tablespoons onion, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 cup lemonade (regular or diet)
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F. 
  2. Place chicken wings in a baking dish.
  3. Add all remaining ingredients to a saucepan and cook for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour mixture over chicken and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Test for doneness.
  5. Serve hot or place in a covered warming dish or crock pot until ready to serve.

Helpful hints

  • Carbohydrate content is less than 1 gram if sugar-free lemonade is used.
  • Buy fresh wing drummettes at the grocery. A 1-1/4 pound package contains 12 drummettes.  If unavailable, ask your butcher to cut whole chicken wings into drummette size.
  • Boneless chicken pieces may be used in this recipe. Check for doneness after 20 minutes.
