Helpful Hints

  • A large roasting pan with high sides works best.
  • The parmesan cheese is a higher phosphorus ingredient. 1/2 cup contributes 10 mg phosphorus per serving. Use less or omit if desired.
  • For a smaller batch, reduce cereal to one or two boxes depending on how much you want to make. Adjust other ingredients as well.

I mixed the butter and other ingredients as indicated in the recipe but it was too thick to "pour" over the chex mix. Am I missing something here? I added more butter so I could pour it. I hope that doesn't mess up the mixture. Moderator comment: You could add only half the parmesan cheese to the melted butter then sprinkle the rest on afterwards. Otherwise add the extra butter if you don't mind the extra fat calories.

Making the regular Chex Party Mix is a tradition in our family. I was delighted to find Dill Nibbles--it was tasty and so easy to make--I experimented with various no salt herb blends-some tasted better than others-it is definitely worth making!
