Hamburger Patties

Nicole from Nebraska, a DaVita dietitian, found a classic, comfort favorite and made it renal-diet friendly without sacrificing the taste. Her deliciously seasoned Hamburger Patties are destined to be a favorite.

Portions: 6     Serving size: 2 ounce cooked patty


  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/4 cup low-cholesterol egg substitute
  • 1/2 cup nondairy creamer
  • 1/2 cup cracker meal or 10 low-sodium soda crackers, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh garlic, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoon raw onion, chopped


  1. Preheat oven to 425° F.
  2. Mix together all ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. Shape into 6 hamburger patties.
  4. Place patties in a baking dish.
  5. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.

Helpful hints

    1. For a complete meal, add a small hamburger bun, a slice of onion, lettuce and 1 tablespoon no-salt-added catsup.Nutrient totals 322 cal, 19 g protein, 33 g carbohydrate, 13 g fat, 49 mg cholesterol, 374 mg sodium, 348 mg potassium, 240 mg phosphorus, 69 mg calcium, 1.6 g fiber.
    2. This recipe can also be used to make meatloaf.
    3. For a high protein diet, make 4 patties to increase patty size to 3 ounces cooked.
    4. Instead of baking you can grill patties on the barbeque, turning once until thoroughly cooked.
