Bread Cups

Try this fun and tasty kidney-friendly alternative to plain sandwich bread with this recipe for Bread Cups. The DaVita dietitian team came up with a great way to enjoy your favorite appetizer or sandwich filling.

Portions: 24     Serving size: 1 bread cup

Ingredients

  • 24 slices white bread, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon hot chili oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  2. Cut crust from bread slices and roll flat with a rolling pin.
  3. Spray a small-cup muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Press one slice of bread into each muffin cup and trim edges with a knife.
  5. Mix oils and garlic powder together. Brush each bread cup with oil and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until crisp and golden brown.
  6. Let cups cool before removing from muffin pan.

how would i go about finding out the nutritional values of homemade bread w/o salt. I have a recipe I have used for years and would like to continue using it vs using store bought. Help please Moderator response: Send your recipe and I will analyze it for you. Let me know if you want to share it.
