Quick Pan-Glazed Chicken

Quick Pan-Glazed Chicken is loaded with tasty ingredients like honey, basil and balsamic vinegar that also happen to be powerful antioxidants. Using skinless chicken breasts sautéed in olive oil, this kidney-friendly recipe by Christine, a DaVita dietitian from New Jersey, is high in lean protein and low in saturated fats.

Portions: 4     Serving size: 1 chicken breast


  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil


  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chicken and sprinkle with pepper.
  2. Sauté chicken for 5 minutes on each side, until brown.
  3. Add balsamic vinegar and sauté for one minute – flipping chicken over to coat.
  4. Add honey and basil. Stir and flip chicken to coat. Cook for one minute longer.

Helpful hints

  • Be creative and season chicken with herbs or low sodium seasoning blends of your own choice. Garlic and onion powder go well with the black pepper.
  • If you are on a lower protein diet, decrease the portion to 1/2 chicken breast or substitute smaller boneless chicken thighs for the breast meat.

I made this today. What a wonderful dish. My family enjoyed it - we will definately be makeing this again- soon! I added some onion powder and garlic....doubled the sauce so it would drizzle over rice. yummy!
