Bavarian Apple Tart

1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose white flour
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 medium apples
- 1/4 cup slivered almonds
Preheat oven to 450° F.
Set cream cheese out to soften. Peel, core and slice apples.
Cream together butter, 1/3 cup sugar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
Fold in flour to make a dough.
Spread dough on bottom and sides of a 9″ spring form pan.
In a medium bowl combine softened cream cheese and 1/3 cup sugar; mix well.
Add egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla; mix until blended.
Pour mixture into pastry-lined pan.
Combine 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon; toss with apples until all are coated.
Spoon apple mixture over cream cheese layer.
Sprinkle with almonds.
Bake at 450° F for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 400° F and continue baking for 25 minutes. Cool.
