The recipe is excellent, and I make Upma all the time, since I have early stage CKD. I find that adding some steamed veggies such as carrots and beans to the upma give me more value for the calories consumed, and I feel fuller. I know each CKD patient is different, so it is advisable to include the veggies you are allowed to have.
