Helpful hints

  • Expecting a crowd? Make a large batch by doubling the ingredients.
  • This recipe can be made the same day, but does taste best if prepared the night before.
  • Low-salt Ritz® crackers pair excellently with the dip.
  • Low-fat cream cheese may be substituted but sodium and phosphorus is higher.
  • Definitely do not use fat-free cream cheese, as this will compromise the taste.
  • Some low-sodium ketchup brands contain potassium chloride instead of salt. Avoid these brands because the potassium is much higher.

How long can I keep this once made up? I am just making this, have not yet tasted. Dietitian comment: I would not hold it for more than 2 days.

I am Lorraine, the DaVita dietitian who submitted this recipe. I make it every year for our patients (I make some for family and friends as well). As soon as my patients see the party announcement they ask me if I am going to make the Seafood Dip again. This year for steps 2 and 3 I used my food processor to chop the shrimp and imitation crabmeat. It came out just as good as when I used to chop it. For steps 6 and 7 I, again, used my food processor to do the mixing for me. This saved me time without compromising taste. Enjoy!
