It sounds like there's a lot of sugar, and I was told to avoid peanuts (all nuts, in fact). Butterscotch chips and unsalted peanuts are OK then? And the non-fat whipped topping has hydrogenated oils that I've also been told to avoid. Thoughts? Dietitian comment: Look at the total amount of potassium and phosphorus in a serving of the recipe[INVALID]that's what matters more than specific ingredients. You could try real whipped cream.

I made this for lunch. It was good, but sorta sweet. Next time, I will make it with bworn sugar and butter in the frypan,drain the pineapple and add the juce to the fry pan and let is cook down a bit (make my own butterscotch sauce), add the apples and the drained pineapple. I think the sugar count will be lower and the sweetness will not be overpowering. BTW, use the crushed pineapple packed in pineapple unsweetened juice.
