Mexican Seasoning

Mexican Seasoning is a kidney-friendly recipe that can be put on beef, chicken, pork or seafood.

Portions: 8     Serving size: 1 teaspoon


  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper


  1. Mix spices together in a small jar or bowl.
  2. Use to season meat for tacos, fajitas or burritos.

Helpful hints

  •  Use as a dry rub, add to sour cream to make dip or season your favorite homemade salad dressing.

Tried mixing this recipe with 8oz cream cheese for a creamy mexican dip. We heated it a little in the microwave to soften it, then served it with unsalted pretzels and low sodium tortilla chips. It was liked very well by everyone who tried it. Nutrients per 1oz serving (using regular cream cheese): 105 Calories, 38mg Calcium, 39mg Phosphorus, 85 mg Potassium and 101mg Sodium.
