Grilled Salmon

Grilled Salmon is a classic, kidney-friendly recipe you can serve at your next get-together.

Portions: 4     Serving size: 3-1/2 ounces


  • 1 pound fresh salmon fillets
  • 1 teaspoon salt-free lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • liquid margarine spray


  1. Prepare fresh salmon by sprinkling with salt-free lemon pepper seasoning. Squeeze a small amount of lemon juice over the fish.  Spray with 3-4 sprites of liquid margarine spray.
  2. Place on preheated grill and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until fish reaches desired doneness. Serve hot.

I had always been told that Salmon was too high in potassium for a dialysis patient.... I don't understand... Moderator comment: Salmon is higher in potassium compared to some other fish, but that does not make it an exclusion unless you are experiencing high potassium levels and trying to select the very lowest potassium fish. Salmon ranges from 286 to 530 mg potassium for a 3 ounce portion, depending on the variety and farm vs. wild. You can choose the lower potassium variety or eat a smaller portion.

The salt free lemon pepper seasoning recipe should be with the salmon recipe. I'm going to go looking for it now. Moderator comment: We currently do not have a salt-free lemon pepper recipe on the website--but a great suggestion to add in the future. YOu can buy a commercially prepared salt-free lemon pepper. Mrs. Dash makes a lemon herb seasoning blend that would work well in this recipe.
