Redwoods Rotational Program
MBAs from top schools across the country come for our remarkable rotational training program. The Redwoods Program is designed for MBAs looking for significant responsibility/autonomy quickly and who we view as having high potential for senior management.
The 9-12 month customized Redwoods Rotational Program is designed to prepare you to become a successful:
A. Regional Operations Director (ROD) in our field operations OR
B. Corporate Director in one of our corporate offices
Regional Operations Directors
As a ROD you would report directly to a Divisional Vice President and have full P&L ($20-$50M) responsibility, including full accountability for:
- Productivity analysis, continuous quality improvement, and clinical results for 5-12 centers
- Recruiting, hiring, developing, retaining and terminating teammates (100-200 employees (“teammates”) reporting up to you through 10-12 direct reports)
- Business development and strategic growth (including acquiring and/or opening new centers as well as developing and managing physician relationships)
- Budget and financial results
Corporate Directors
As a Corporate Director you would report directly to a Senior Director or Corporate Vice President. Your responsibilities could include:
1) Strategic planning and development as part of our internal consulting team (including leading the assessment of new business opportunities to supporting the existing businesses).
2) Helping lead an “internal start-up” within DaVita (creating or developing entrepreneurial business unit initiatives and implementation plans) such as:
- Lifeline (Vascular Access Centers)
- DaVita Rx (Specialty Pharmacy)
- Village Health (A specialty insurance plan [MA-PD SNP: Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Special Needs Plan])
- DaVita at Home (Hemodialysis, Peritoneal and Nocturnal Dialysis at home)
- Chronic Kidney Disease Education
3) A functional area such as
- Corporate Finance
- Marketing
- New Center Development
- Physician Practice Management
Job Training:
Training/Shadowing Rotations
While based in a specific territory or corporate office and being mentored by a Vice President and a Senior Executive (SVP or C level), Redwoods begin by rotating through a series of leadership, management and experiential exercises as well as specific shadowing assignments in their first three months. Redwoods will also attend training rotations to gain exposure to the company’s functional departments (Finance, Accounting, IT, Marketing, HR, etc.) and meet the most senior executives.
Practicum
The above training and shadowing, along with ongoing support, is designed to aid you in successfully completing the required practicum rotation prior to becoming a Regional Operations or Corporate Director. Field Redwoods’ practicum consists of managing a dialysis center; Corporate Redwoods lead a corporate team or project.
