Known as California’s New Frontier, Fresno is a fast-growing metropolis within a world renowned agricultural setting, featuring old-fashioned values coupled with big city amenities. A rock solid nephrology group has been a part of this booming central California City for more than thirty years and now they are looking for a Nurse Practitioner with nephrology experience. They recently relocated to a spacious new office building with both a dialysis unit and an access center.
Located in the heart of California, Fresno is the business, financial, cultural and entertainment capital of the San Joaquin Valley. Located between San Francisco and Los Angeles, it is the Central Valley’s largest metropolitan city with a population of 486,000. Fresno County is the No.1 agricultural county in the nation, encompassing acres of fertile agricultural land, majestic lakes, rivers, awe inspiring foothills, and mountain ranges.
Not far from the city, recreational activities abound in the surrounding lakes, rivers, and foothills. In fact, this is the only county in the country that can claim three national parks in its backyard; Sequoia, Yosemite, and Kings Canyon National Park. Fresno also has plenty of sporting venues. The newly built Save Mart Center (located next to California Sate University, Fresno) has welcomed world recognized artists and is the home to collegiate basketball and professional ice hockey. Sierra Summit, just a short drive away welcomes skiers and snowboarders of all levels during their winter season.
Fresno weather is relatively mild in the winter and hot during the summer. The average low temperature in December is 37 degrees and the high temperature in July is around 100 degrees. Annual rainfall is mostly during winter and spring months and averages around 11 inches.
Downtown Fresno offers an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, theaters, and nightclubs anchored by the Tower Theater with its live music and theatrical productions. The Tower District has become a hub for major community events such as car shows, Mardi Gras in February, Jamaica My Weekend, and the newly opened Farmers Market. The district is also known for its early twentieth century homes and architectural design.
The Fresno Unified School District is the fourth largest in California, with a 2004 budget of $869 million. Additionally there are 15 private schools serving K-12 students. California State University at Fresno (commonly known as Fresno State), part of the 23 campus California State University system, is a four-year accredited university offering doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate degrees in about 100 fields to its more than 22,000 students.
If you are a certified nurse practitioner with nephrology experience, dependable and you work well with others, your reward will be a competitive salary and benefits package and a solid career with flexible hours.
