Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  •  1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup water

Preparation

  1. Put all dry ingredients in a pot, whisk together to combine and add water.
  2. Over medium heat whisk frequently until sauce reaches desired thickness (similar to nacho sauce).
  3. Remove from heat and serve.

Helpful hints

  • Nutritional yeast is deactivated yeast. It has a strong nutty or cheesy flavor and is used as a cheese substitute in recipes such as Dairy-free Cheesy Sauce.
  • For a little heat add chili powder.
  • The turmeric is added for color. You can adjust the amount for the desired color.
  • Sauce will maintain same thickness unless additional heat or liquid is added. For a thicker, spreadable sauce reduce the water to 1/2 cup. If over thickened whisk in a small amount of water.
