Why is there recipes with dairy? I do not do dairy as it is hard on the kidney, my opinion. Just asking I do enjoy the help here an the meat? Ty Dietitian comment: We use dairy in some recipes because it is acceptable and can still keep potassium and phosphorus low enough if the amount of dairy is limited. Some dairy substitutes contain phosphate additives so are not included in our recipes. Most dialysis patients can still include 1/2 cup milk or yogurt or 1 ounce cheese as long as potassium and phosphorus are staying in normal range.

Is all red meat bad? I think this website here been very helpful.my husband has a Dr.but we were never put on any diet . we were told to lower salt.he has one kidney and it has went from 3 to 5 creative. Dietitian comment: The best red meats to include on a kidney diet are the leanest cuts. Read DaVita Dietitian Shannon's Kidney Diet Tips Q&A forum post about the best choices at http://forums.davita.com/showthread.[INVALID]?7616-Should-red-meat-be-avoided-on-the-kidney-diet. A second consideration is how much meat to include. A healthy diet includes no more than 6 ounces meat, poultry of seafood daily. If on a lower protein diet this amount may be less.

Can chicken breast be substituted for the turkey breast. Dietitian comment: Definitely! The nutrients are approximately the same.
