Have just been diagnosed with kidney failure it's been rough finding dishes for my husband and I. This one was great.. the only thing I did differently was put Mrs. Dash steak seasoning on the beef tips before I added them. Making a double batch next time to have extra to freeze!

This sounds delicious and I'm going to make it with ground turkey! I can't wait to try it. It sounds almost like my homemade stroganoff.

Can you use chicken instead of beef? Dietitian comment: Yes it will work with chicken.

I used pork loin instead of beef . Turned out great. Pork loin is what I had on hand. Instead of beef broth I used low sodium pork broth. I also added cumin to the mix,and left out the dill. Worked well.

What do you do with the onion and garlic after you chop and mince them? I'm presuming they go into the crockpot with the beef and other ingredients, but do you precook them or put them in raw? Dietitian comment: No need to cook--add the garlic and onion along with the steak and other 7 ingredients. We fixed the prep notes to make this clear. Thanks!

This sounds really good, but can it be made with ground beef or turkey? My husband has Gastroparesis and can't have beef, but lean ground beef, he can have. Thanks! Dietitian comment: Yes you can make that substitution but suggest reducing the cooking time by several hours. You could also try it with turkey.

This sounds good, do you know how long this would take in a pressure cooker?

We were craving beef stroganoff but none of the kidney-friendly recipes we tried were to our liking. This is a decent substitute.
