Helpful hints

  • Step # 2 instructs on the double boiling method to reduce potassium in potatoes. Skip the double boiling and cook potatoes until tender if a low potassium diet is not required.

For diabetics, I used the Frozen Assorted Vegies instead of the Peas. I also cut-up potatoes, and soaked in water in the fridge to remove the Potassium.

A little confusion. The Ingredients lists 2 1/2 cups of water. Step 1 calls for 1/2 cups of water. Step 3 calls for the remaining 1 cup of water. There's a missing cup of water somewhere. We put it in at Step 1 since it was a little difficult simmering a pound of ground beef and all that onion in 1/2 cup of water. Is that correct? I'll revise my rating once I hear from you, or it passes the taste test. Dietitian comment: The original recipe calls for adding the remaining 2 cups of water in step 3, but you could add it earlier in step 1. Thanks for calling this omission to our attention--it's now corrected.
