Helpful hints

  • Be sure to wrap foil tightly so juices don’t escape while cooking.
  • If, after 15 or 20 minutes, the chops are not completely cooked, rewrap and cook longer.
  • Be careful opening the foil after cooking—steam is very hot.
  • If you are on a lower protein diet, buy smaller pork chops and  weigh cooked meat to match your meal plan.

This a is a fascinating reciepe. All the ingredients are perfect for a flavorful dish and I was so disappointed when we started eating it. Meat was dry and the teriyaki flavor barely came through. There are 320mg of sodium in a tablespoon of teriyaki sauce. Why can't we have a little more flavor? . Have you any suggestions? Dietitian comment: You can compare brands of teriyaki sauce and select the one lowest in sodium. The one used in the analysis contributes 230 mg sodium per serving (690 mg sodium in a tablespoon.) You could also add a tablespoon of low sodium Worcestershire sauce, pineapple juice or slices or fresh ginger for more traditional Hawaiian flavors low in sodium.

Used fresh pineapple instead of canned. Personal choice bell pepper and onion are a plus. We added couscous w/mango and green beans for a delightful meal.
