??? I already have stage 6 kidney failure! I don't dare eat many if the DaVita recipes fir fear I'll get Diabetes, or have Heart disease from all the unhealthy sugar, fats, and processed ingredients you all use in so many of your recipes! Sorry! Dietitian Comment: The recipe are analyzed and adjusted to stay within renal guidelines for micronutrients and macronutrients. There is also a guide at the bottom of each recipe for the diet exchanges to be used as a guide for anyone on dialysis, with CKD or non-dialysis.

Wonderful, since my husband loved ice cream sandwiches and is end stage 5. Could cocoa powder be added to make the chocolate & still be within the kidney diet? Dietitian comment: Yes you could add 2 tablespoons dry unsweetened cocoa to the filling which contains 164 mg potassium and 78 mg phosphorus. Another option is to use chocolate graham crackers instead of making the homemade cookies.

I have very bad reactions to artifical sweetners such as Splenda. Any suggestions for a substitute? These sound delicious. Dietitian comment: You could try Stevia or other sweeteners you can tolerate but will require some experimentation to find out how much sweetener to add.

Made these for our clinic. Most people liked them, as long as they like splenda. They were pretty easy to make.

Patient likes them. Make sure you allow enough time for the whipped topping to refreeze.
