Helpful hints

  • To make your own crust see recipe for Graham Cracker Crust.
  • For a lower carbohydrate version, substitute Equal®, Splenda® sweetener or other sugar substitute for the sugar. Carbohydrate is reduced to 5 grams per serving.
  • To reduce fat, use low-fat or fat-free cream cheese.
  • Fruit option: use one cup of mango pulp available in Asian grocery stores. Reduce sugar to 1/4 cup with mango pulp since it is sweetened.

Peach Pie
12patches says:

Since I am unable to find sugar-free peach pie filling, I usually make my own pie filling, or just take two handfuls of blueberries and drop them in. But tonight, I mixed everything but the sugar and the batter was very stiff. Then I reread the recipe to make sure nothing was missed, then put in the sugar which loosened the batter. Now I know sugar is considered a liquid ingredient but I never noticed it until tonight. I am curious why sugar made the batter easier to work with.
