Is the a substitute for shorting? The only thing l usually use shortening for is seasoning my cast iron skillets. Dietitian comment: I have not tried the recipe with this change but guess it will work with butter instead of shortening.

I have a question about this recipe. Is the crisco shortening added melted or solid? Thanks Moderator response: Add solid shortening to the flour and blend with a fork until crumbly, then add the milk.
