DaVita’s own, Geri, always enjoyed learning about nutrition and fitness. She completed her degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center.
Now Geri works as a DaVita dietitian, hoping to make a difference in people’s lives. “I love the challenge of motivating patients and helping them understand how making small changes in their diet can help maintain their wellbeing,” Geri explains. “It’s so rewarding when a patient thanks me for helping them with their meal plan and improves their health status by starting a healthy behavior change,” she adds.
Since beginning her career at DaVita in 2001, Geri has had the opportunity to expand her knowledge of nutrition while also working with some wonderful patients—one of whom particularly touched her with his appreciation. “After providing nutrition education to a patient,” Geri recalls, “he sent me a thank-you note for ‘taking the fear out of his diet.’ And he continues to send me emails to keep me up-to-date on the progress of his diet changes.”
