As a dietitian for DaVita, Deb helps patients achieve their nutrition goals and improve their lab values. However, there are a couple of things about working in Nevada that make her job just a little bit different. “One of our patient care technicians is an Elvis impersonator, hairdo and all,” Deb shares. “And patients enjoy listening to the “King” sing Viva Las Vegas while dialyzing.”
Before joining DaVita and the “King” four years ago, Deb received her degree from the University of Nebraska, where her interest in physiology and nutrition led her to the renal field. “I really enjoy providing patients with both nutritional guidance as well as reassurance.” Deb adds, “It’s great to be a part of changing a patient’s behavior in terms of managing their renal impairment and help them understand how dietary discretion can improve their overall condition.”
To do this, Deb has found it very helpful to review the recipes on DaVita.com with her patients. “This helps them realize that there is actually a large variety of dishes still available to them and there is no need to omit their favorite foods.”
Now you can indulge in one of everyone’s all-time favorite foods: Meat Loaf. And with Deb’s recipe, you won’t just get one—you’ll get eight Individual Meat Loaves all fit for the “King.”
