Frozen Fruit Delight and Spicy Peaches by Mindy from Virginia

Not every dietitian has been counting calories, carbohydrates and cholesterol since the first grade. Mindy says she became interested in the field while in college. “I had never thought of becoming a dietitian until I became aware of nutrition related careers while attending Virginia Tech,” she explains. After graduation, Mindy worked in a variety of health care venues, until she was fortunate enough to get a job in the dialysis setting. “Working with kidney patients has been, and continues to be, a highly rewarding career,” Mindy says.

A Virginia native, Mindy works at one of DaVita’s largest outpatient facilities. She loves that it’s located only a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean, not to mention local shops, making it convenient for an occasional lunchtime shopping spree.  Add the reward of being part of a health care team that is patient-focused and always looking to enhance the quality of its patient care, and Mindy says that her career at DaVita is almost like a working vacation.

Mindy is definitely a people person, and is delighted that focus on patients’ improvement is one of DaVita’s main concerns. “It’s always a good feeling to see how well our patients feel, and see the improvements in their health when they adhere to the advice provided by our team,” she says. “The smiles on their faces say it all.”
