DaVita Village Giving

Village Giving puts our commitment to be a community first and a company second into action. We connect each other through purpose-driven service and community partnerships to strengthen our neighborhoods, create belonging, and support our distinguished culture.

DaVita is dedicated to fostering vibrant communities in Colorado and across the country.

Our commitment lies at the intersection of health, education, and civic vitality. We prioritize initiatives that improve the health outcomes for individuals who have or are at risk of chronic kidney disease, education programs that promote health care career pathways and enhancing and improving Downtown Denver — the home of our global headquarters.

Giving Pillars

DaVita supports efforts that aim to make a positive community impact and align with these giving pillars. Applications must align closely with one of DaVita’s philanthropic pillars for consideration of funding.

Civic Vitality: Denver

We are dedicated to the vibrant and sustainable growth of Metro Denver. We support organizations that promote civic leadership and foster economic vitality. We support arts and culture institutions that enrich Downtown Denver’s creative economy and invest in local placemaking to create an inclusive and dynamic city.

Education

We champion access to quality education for the workforce of tomorrow. We invest in opportunities for students interested in health care careers by helping remove barriers and providing career exposure and experiences.

Health

We are dedicated to an unwavering pursuit of a healthier tomorrow. We support individuals with health and wellness resources who have or are at risk of chronic kidney disease, and champion organizations facilitating organ transplantation. We focus on programs providing health screenings, kidney health education/prevention, and medically tailored meals for individuals with kidney disease. Our goal is to address systemic health challenges to help ensure no one is left behind in the journey to creating healthier communities.

Teammate Engagement

We believe collective action creates meaningful change. Through programs like Dollars for Doers and the DaVita Way of Giving, we aim to harness the passion and energy of our teammates toward impactful volunteer and giving efforts.

Volunteerism and Dollars for Doers

DaVita aims to contribute 300,000 volunteer hours from 2025 to 2030. Teammates volunteered more than 70,000 hours in 2025, creating ripples of citizen leadership in the communities we serve.

DaVita Way of Giving

The DaVita Way of Giving enables teammates to nominate causes they’re passionate about for grant funding, impacting the communities in which we live and work. Unsolicited requests are not accepted at this time.

Request Funding

DaVita supports organizations that align with our Giving Pillars: Civic Vitality, Education, and Health. We also consider requests that enable large volunteer opportunities for DaVita teammates or support nonprofits in which DaVita teammates serve on the Board of Directors.

DaVita makes grants through two main programs: our Strategic Impact Grant Program and our Community Grant Program.

Please allow up to 8-12 weeks for consideration and processing. We prioritize funding in Denver, Colorado, the home of our global headquarters. Be sure to note any DaVita teammate involvement when applying.

Community Grant Program

The Community Grants program supports single year contributions to nonprofits advancing DaVita’s secondary philanthropic focus areas and creating meaningful opportunities for teammate engagement. Grants are generally under $25,000, with rolling and semi-annual application opportunities. Community Grant funding is primarily focused on organizations based in Colorado, with a focus on Metro Denver, the home of our DaVita Global headquarters.

Our Secondary Areas of Focus:

  • Health: Transplant support, kidney-specific meals and nutrition education
  • Education: General healthcare career mentorship and exposure
  • Civic Vitality: Arts & Culture + Placemaking in Downtown Denver

Medical Education and Health Care Requests

Medical Education Grants support educational programs sponsored by independent accredited organizations that provide continuing medical education (CME) credits. DaVita supports Medical Education Grants that address the following:

  • Advancing and understanding kidney care
  • Dialysis treatment and advancements
  • Education of nephrology providers including trainees and professionals
  • Kidney disease management and prevention including understanding of co- morbidities

Strategic Impact Grant Program

Through the Strategic Impact Grant Program, DaVita invests in organizations aligned to our priority areas of focus and committed to measurable impact and transparent reporting. Grants will only be considered if they directly align with the primary grant focus, and we prioritize projects that exemplify feasibility and scalability. Multi-year contributions (up to two years) will be considered.

Our Primary Areas of Focus

  • Health: Kidney health education and preventative screenings
  • Education: Scholarships and/or programs that provide training and credentials for healthcare clinician roles
  • Civic Vitality: Innovative grant intended to catalyze a Downtown Denver activation and mobilize DaVita teammates

*Please submit a brief 1-page outline of your program concept, request amount and alignment to our strategic area of focus. Village Giving will be in touch if we want to consider a full proposal.

Yes. The strongest collaborations have alignment across more than one of our priorities (Civic Vitality, Health and Education) and teammate engagement is critical. Please apply in the funding pillar that most closely describes your primary work.

Strategic Impact Grants are generally $75,000+ annually, while Community Grants generally average under $40,000. If this is your first time applying for a Community Grant, a good rule of thumb to submit for no more than $15,000.

DaVita will not offer, provide or solicit requests for donations:

  • With the intent to induce or reward referrals of patients;
  • In connection with a business arrangement;
  • With the intent to influence patients’ or potential patients’ selection of DaVita as their Health care provider
  • To support the operational expenses of a referral source
  • Requested by a DaVita teammate on behalf of a referral source
  • To organizations that are not aligned with a DaVita Giving Pillar

Approved and processed donations are paid out according to our grants management system’s (Benevity/American Online Giving Foundation) monthly disbursement schedule, generally 14-21 days after approval.  Please take this timeline into consideration when making requests.

Funding is sent directly to recipient organizations according to their preferences registered within Benevity. We encourage our nonprofit partners to sign up for electronic payments to avoid fees associated with traditional check processing.

Strong strategic alignment to primary and secondary areas of focus within DaVita’s Giving Pillars of Civic Vitality, Health or Education is critical. We look for a strategy well-aligned to our pillars and clear impact metrics. Programmatic investments vs. event sponsorships are prioritized. Additionally, existing DaVita teammate (also known as employee) engagement is a significant consideration. With few exceptions, Community Grant funding is limited to organizations based in Colorado, with a focus on Metro Denver, the home of our DaVita Global headquarters.

Interested in funding, but based outside of Colorado? Reach out to VillageGiving@davita.com to be connected with a local DaVita Way of Giving champion.

No. Funding is not considered for individual schools.

Recipients are asked to complete an impact report sharing your impact about 8 months into the cycle.

Please email Ripples@davita.com to share volunteer opportunities. While we cannot guarantee our teammates will be able to volunteer, we are happy to consider your request for inclusion on our Ripples volunteer platform.
