David A. Roer, MD

Chief Medical Officer, DaVita IKC

David Roer, MD, joined DaVita in 2018 and currently leads Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) as chief medical officer. In this role, Dr. Roer leads the clinical strategy to improve the lives of patients, by reimagining and transforming kidney care, creating unparalleled value together with our physician partners with a focus on increasing patient engagement, improving patient safety and clinical outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. Previously, he served as DaVita’s national group medical director.  

Prior to joining DaVita, Dr. Roer was the managing partner of Nephrology and Hypertension Associates for 30 years. He has held leadership positions within several professional nephrology organizations, most recently serving on the board of directors at Renal Physician Association and as co-chair of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Renal Disease and Detoxification Committee. Dr. Roer served as the medical director for patient Safety and Quality and led the health system high reliability (HRO) journey. Dr. Roer completed his medical training at Yale School of Medicine, where he served as an associate clinical professor of medicine.
