Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric

Preparation

  1. In a small bowl mix all spices together.
  2. Place in a covered jar or container until ready to use.
  3. Use as a dry rub or wet marinade for meat, poultry or fish, or add to vegetables, stews or other dishes.

Helpful hints

  • Adobo is used to prepare many foods in Latin culture.
  • Commercially prepared Adobo seasoning may contain over 300 mg sodium per serving.
  • Ground annatto (achiote) may be substituted for turmeric if available.
  • Adobo seasonings are varied and can be modified. Some recipes include cumin, coriander or annatto.
