Helpful hints

  • 12 ounces of raw shrimp yields about 1-1/2 cups when chopped. 
  • Instead of egg roll wrappers substitite spring roll wrappers (also known as rice paper  or spring roll skins). The carbohydrate, sodium and phosphorus content are lower.
  • If hoisen sauce is unavailable substitute low sodium soy sauce or plum sauce.
  • Serve with low-sodium sweet and sour sauce if desired.

This sounds really good and will satisfy my need to have oriental inspired foods in my diet. I love any Asia food like this, especially those that can be made slightly hot or not. I will let you know how I like it but what I see looks good in the recipe... hoisin... nice touch!

These sound great and my husband would love them. He is diabetic and has kidney disease,not on dialysis but high potassium levels so is this something he could have? Dietitian comment: Yes this is acceptable for a diabetic, low potassium diet.
