Modify Recipes with the 25% Rule

With the 25% rule, you can make almost any recipe kidney-friendly. It’s easy: Simply reduce ingredients high in sodium, potassium and phosphorus to 25% or 1/4 of the amount in the original recipe. Try using the 25% rule with ingredients such as salt, tomato sauce, beans, nuts and chocolate.
