What is the sugar value in the sauce? Dietitian comment: 6 grams added sugar from the honey and brown sugar.

Pretty good when I added an extra tbsp of brown sugar. I would probably cut the vinegar in half next time to limit the after taste and increase the brown sugar again.

I didn’t really care for this barque sauce tasted like heinze 57 so to me it didn’t taste to much like a BBQ so i won’t be making this again.

I haven’t tried this yet. I’m single person and wonder how i keep this longer in the Refrigerate long I don’t want it to go to waste. Thank you. Dietitian comment: It would be easy to cut this recipe in half so you do not have as much left. As the recipe says you can then store remaining sauce in the fridge for up to 1 week. It may work to freeze it then reheat before using.

After trying the zesty barbeque sauce & not loving it, i took another commentor’s advice & used my breadmaker’s jam setting to make a large batch! I combined the three red sauce recipes using rinsed roasted red peppers & no tomato content. Potassium is a big problem & I lessen it as much as possible. Combining the three recipes made an awesome batch of a perfect blend of spicy & smoky sauce with plenty to freeze for another time! What a timesaver! Thank you DaVita!

I'm confused. I thought you shouldn't use honey, tomato sauce/paste, brown sugar in our diets. Dietitian comment: It is confusing! Most items, even those on the limit list, can be worked into a recipe or meal. What's most important is how it impacts your daily nutrient total. For example, one serving from this recipe has 32 mg potassium--a very small amount for a 2,000 mg potassium diet. Look at the total nutrients contributed instead of specific ingredients.

Is brown sugar bad for a renal diet? I bought this spenda brown sugar blend and was going to sub that. Was going to give this a try.Great site. Dietitian comment: Small amounts of brown sugar are acceptable in a renal diet.

what is kitchen bouquet browning and seasoning sauce and where do I find it? haven't tried it yet. Dietitian comment: It is a browning and seasoning sauce primarily composed of caramel with vegetable flavorings and has been around since 1879.It is very low in sodium and can be used to add brown color and flavor to gravies, meat dishes and more. Walmart carries it and it is available in many grocery stores.

Can I have spare ribs with this? Dietitian comment: Yes. Try a DaVita recipe for Easy Oven Baked Ribs, Braised Short Ribs of Beef or Bob's Oven Baked Pork Ribs.
